Unless you’re just coming back to webOS from another platform or you’ve been hiding under a mobile-tech rock, you are aware that Phoenix International Communications has partnered with OpenMobile to create the Android Compatibility Layer for the HP Touchpad. This impressive undertaking theoretically brings the (almost) entirety of the Android app catalog to webOS. I say almost because it is based off of Android 2.3 so apps requiring Android 3+ won’t work…yet.
Josh Marinacci is no stranger to Palm, webOS, or the community of the webOS Nation. As a former member of the webOS Developer Relations team his presence was one of trust and support within the now defunct Palm, Inc. and worldwide webOS developers. And while Josh has since moved on to Nokia, his affinity for webOS is reaffirmed in his own words; “it’s still my favorite OS”. We of the webOS Nation are glad to hear that.
The HP webOS Pivot was created to present apps and developers in a new and better way than just boring download charts. So today, between all the general news posts I need to gather to have more than 3 sites, I want to advertise my own little a little bit:
Things are not well on Planet TouchPad. The universe is bombarding us with destruction and we need all the help we can get!!!
I’m talking about Cosmic Nitro… It’s old school. It was created for webOS 1.4.5 back in 2009. It was made for the 3.1 inch Pre- screen. AND IT STILL ROCKS on TouchPad’s glorious 9.7 inch screen under version 3.x!!!
You’re at the App Catalog: check it out if you haven’t. It’s free, it’s in games. It’s waiting for you to come save planet TouchPad right now!!!
