I recently saw a video showing early stages of webOS running on an LG TV emulator with the use of Project Ares. Regardless of how that video came to light it was a great morale boost for the webOS community. Our OS lives!
You’ve had webOS now for almost 9 months. When you purchased it you were fairly open with your decision and gave hope to fans of the OS that we would see it live on in the future. Of course, the future you planned was in Smart TVs due out in 2014. To be honest, I’m ok with that especially since you had some great things to say about the superiority of the user experience over Android and did not rule out mobile devices in the future.
Thanks to everyone for their submissions to the pivotCE Halloween/webOS 2013 contest. We didn’t have a HUGE turnout but hey, we’re new around here! And now….our winner is…..webOS Nation Forum user TJs11thPre! Congrats! Check out his picture below. That’s a FrankenPre2 dressed up as Frankenstein for Halloween. Ahhhh, classic…and FUNNY!
TJs11thPre wins a $10 gift card for the Google Play store. Read on to see other notable entries.
Engadget is reporting that Skype (read Microsoft) is rewriting the aging API for renewed focus on mobile platforms. What does that mean for webOS users and our beloved Synergy Skype integration? Well, we don’t really know just yet. What we do know is that M$ has a history of killing support for things it no longer deems worthy of support. The long list includes Windows Phone 7. That does not bode well for we the users of webOS and our integrated Skype support. Should the unthinkable happen and our front-facing-camera-having TouchPads and Pre3s no longer retain Skype access one can only hope the webOS community comes to the rescue to once again save ourselves from an early and altogether too-soon demise. Here’s hoping. For now, enjoy it while you have it. Further bulletins as they develop!
It looks like OpenMobile is offering a $5 off code on their Twitter and Phoenix International Communications is offering a $10 off code on their store for entering your email address. Unfortunately, you can’t combine them but if you buy two licenses seperately (add one to cart, checkout, repeat) you can save $15!
In the dark about what’s been happening at LG webOS these days? Don’t feel bad. So are we. Although if you stare deep into the very dark tunnel with an unknown length you might see a pinprick of light at the end. The tunnel is LG webOS and the light is the first video displaying the webOS TV Emulator running on Project Ares. Hit the break for the video. Unfortunately, LG requested the video be removed so it’s currently unavailable. The video DOES still exist though and pivotCE was able to acquire it, however, to avoid potential copyright infringement we will not repost it for view. Read on for a couple of nice screenshots though.
